Betula lenta 

Sweet birch, also known as black birch, cherry birch, mahogany birch or spice birch, is a birch species native to North America, typically found anywhere from Maine to Georgia. Its a medium-sized deciduous tree that grows to about 100 feet tall.

The trees themselves are planted residentially to show off their bold yellow color in the fall, as well as to fill wet areas and provide a diverse habitat to insects and wildlife. Fun fact- you can make birch beer with the sap from the sweet birch tree!
