Callicarpa dichotoma

Early Amethyst, commonly called beautyberry is a deciduous shrub with summer and fall blooms. It has long, arching, slender branches which can dip downward often to touch the ground. Clusters of small, pink to lavender flowers bloom along the stems in summer. Flowers are followed by clusters of lilac-violet fruits which ripen in September and put on their best show through October! Fruits can persist beyond the point of leaf drop but not very far into winter. Its green leaves turn yellow in the fall.

Perfect for group or mass planting, borders, or underplanting for open woodland gardens. For an interesting fall berry display, plant in combination with other fall berry-producing shrubs.

Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Most gardeners prefer to prune stems back to 6” in late winter to early spring each year. Arrives to you in a 3-gallon pot.
