Both its bulb and leaves are loved for its mild licorice flavor that is commonly used in soups and stews.  Can be eaten raw, sauteed or even roasted. The seeds also add a great addition to baking and meals when dried.

Fennel is a part of the carrot family, but is not a root vegetable as it bulbs grow above ground. Plant in raised garden beds, in the garden or even in containers.
