Vinca minor 'Bowles'

This hardy perennial groundcover, commonly called Bowles Periwinkle, forms a dense, spreading mat of glossy dark green evergreen foliage that provides year-round texture and structure. In spring and early summer, it produces vivid violet-blue, pinwheel-like flowers that stand out beautifully against the rich foliage and may continue sporadically through summer and into fall in favorable conditions.

Vinca minor ‘Bowles’ thrives in partial shade to full shade and is adaptable to a wide range of soil types, including average to dry, well-drained soils. Once established, it is low maintenance and drought tolerant, making it an excellent choice for challenging shady spots.

This versatile groundcover is deer and rabbit resistant and is ideal for underplanting trees and shrubs, covering slopes, edging pathways, or filling difficult shaded areas where other plants struggle to fill in. Its spreading habit also helps suppress weeds and control erosion over time.
