Thymus serpyllum 'Mother-of-Thyme'

Thyme is a mat-forming ground cover perennial that is extremely popular with gardeners due to its prolific light purple/lavender flowers that bloom during June and July (early to mid summer). 

This thyme's ability to be walked on makes it the perfect specimen to plant between or around pavers on a walkway. Its leaves are aromatic, however it is NOT used in culinary applications. With its thick stems of woolly foliage, it is more durable and more waterwise than other creeping thymes and thrives in almost any well-drained soil in full sun.
