Silky Dogwood is a native flowering shrub that provides year-round interest. Young growth sports reddish purple smooth bark which eventually matures into brown. Meanwhile the leaves that bud in spring create the perfect backdrop for the white flat-topped blooms in summer which produce small dark purple-blue berries that birds absolutely love!

As fall approaches the leaves on this beauty turn to fiery hues of yellow, orange and red and the berries go to seed which provide food for winter wildlife.

These moisture loving shrubs reach heights of 8-10 feet high and almost as wide. Mass planted as a border they provide exceptional erosion control and windbreak. Their moderate growth means patience is necessary and they prefer very moist soil while they become established.
