Silene caroliniana var. wherryi 'Short and Sweet'

‘Short & Sweet’ is a pink flowered Silene that is native to eastern and central areas of the US. Noted for featuring showy foliage and floral interest making for a great option in perennial borders. Expect blooms from May - June. 

Plant in full sun to part shade with dry to medium moisture, well-drained soils. Tolerant to dry and rocky soils. Butterflies and other pollinators are attracted to Silene as it provides and early nectar source for them.

Attractive when mass planted, Silene is an excellent choice for the rock garden. Grow in border fronts, wildflower and native gardens. Companions for the garden include Amsonia and Monarda.
