A more compact form of Japanese Pieris, great for smaller shady spots.

Clusters of beautiful pink bell-shaped flowers appear in spring over slender, deep green and very glossy foliage. Foliage matures to a beautiful wine red in fall for added seasonal interest. Foliage remains during winter months. Moderate grower and good for containers.

Differing from the other varieties, Katsura will mature to about 6' tall and wide.

Provide organically rich, slightly acidic, evenly moist, well-drained soil, with protection from harsh winds. Thrives in dappled shade. Water deeply and regularly during the first growing season to establish an extensive root system. Keep roots cool with a thick layer of mulch. Feed with an acid fertilizer after bloom.
