Panicum virgatum 'Shenandoah' 

This ornamental grass, commonly known as Switch Grass, features burgundy-red foliage that grows in a narrow upright habit. Regarded as one of the best burgundy-red foliages available in the Panicum family, leaves emerge bluish-green before turning red by late June. Reddish-pink flower panicles rise above the foliage. Expect blooms from summer through winter (July - February).

Seed plumes persist well into winter which are an important food source for birds.

Great option in landscape borders, mass plantings, wild gardens and naturalized areas. 'Shenandoah' is also appropriate for rain gardens and when planted along streams.
