Mimulus ringens

Commonly known as Allegheny monkey flower, this upright herbaceous perennial features light lavender-purple blooms atop square stems. The flowers (supposedly) resemble a smiling monkey's face, hence the common name and bloom in summer (June - September).

Plant in full sun to part shade with moist, well-drained soil. Deer and wet soil tolerant, Mimulus is an excellent choice for rain and water gardens, wet meadows and in bogs. Can be used as a water plant as well as they do not like to dry out.
