Hydrangea anomala subsp. petiolaris

Better known as ‘Climbing Hydrangea’ for it’s aerial roots that cling to surfaces. This vigorous vine features lush green foliage, blanketed with magnificent, white lace-like blooms which you can enjoy through summer.

Petiolaris prefers dappled sunlight but can tolerate even heavy shade and makes a great feature when it is allowed to climb fences, pergolas or the side of the house. When left untrimmed, these beauties can reach heights of 60 feet or more.

Blooms appear in late spring on old growth so does best when dead flowers and stems are removed and pruning is timed for very early in the spring. Pruning is not recommended during the first couple years until their root system is fully established.

Best planted in slightly acidic, well-draining soil, climbing hydrangea takes a couple seasons to fully establish and reliably flower. But for the patient gardener, it is ultimately a low-maintenance, disease and pest resistant stunner!

Arrives to you in a 1  gallon pot with trellis.
