Hoya australis is a stunning, easy-to-grow vining plant native to Australia, prized for its thick, waxy leaves and clusters of fragrant, star-shaped white flowers with pink or red centers. It’s a member of the Apocynaceae family and is often called a “wax plant” due to its glossy appearance. As a houseplant, it adds a touch of tropical beauty and is well-suited for hanging baskets or trailing from shelves.

To care for Hoya australis, place it in bright, indirect light—too much direct sun can scorch the leaves, while too little light can reduce flowering. Use well-draining soil and let the top inch dry out between waterings; Hoyas don’t like sitting in wet soil. They thrive in moderate humidity and prefer warm indoor temperatures. Fertilize monthly during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer. With the right conditions, this resilient plant can bloom and thrive for many years indoors.
