Flowering Dogwood is one of the most beautiful and diverse deciduous natives, offering a new and distinct look over each season. It features white flowers that bloom in early spring and are generally the first sign of the beginning of the season. Flowers then fade and are replaced by its attractive green leaves. When fall arrives, showy red berries cover the tree and the leaves will turn to shades of red, orange and purple before falling and leaving behind striking dark branches.

Primarily an understory tree, the Flowering Dogwood can tolerate full sun but would prefer some shade, especially during the heat of the day. Slightly acidic, moist, well-draining soil is best and mulching is recommended to aid in moisture retention.
