Eryngium x.zabelii 'Big Blue'

Commonly called Sea Holly.

Eryngium is a family of ornamental perennials that slightly resemble thistle. They're often grown for their striking, electric-blue flower heads. Flowers are bright blue, star shaped and jagged with an egg-shaped heads. They are one of the only perennials that exist with this type of electric blue color.

'Big Blue' is a staple in the eryngium family and one of the more tried and true varieties. Expect blooms in June, lasting well into late summer. Plant in full sun, in average soil. Eryngium can tolerate extremely hot and dry conditions. Mature plants reach 2-3' in height and about 18" in width.
