Doronicum 'Little Leo'

Commonly known as leopard's bane, this compact plant grows to only 8-12" tall with large dark green serrated, heart-shaped leaves. Flowers are semi double, daisy-like and bright yellow with golden centers. Expect blooms in spring (April - May).

Plant in part shade with well drained soil. 'Little Leo' does not like soil to become too moist or too dry. Flowers are attractive to butterflies and make a good cut flower. Deer and rabbit resistant.

Doronicum is thought to have gotten the common name, leopard's bane, because arrows were once dipped in its sap to hunt leopards. However, the sap of this species is not toxic, so it was most likely a mistake when given the common name.

Effective when mass planted in shady areas of rock gardens, border fronts and woodland areas. Can be grown in pots and containers as well. Plant with Ferns, Hosta and Mysostis as companions.

Arrives to you in a quart-sized container.
