The Kwanzan cherry tree is a popular ornamental variety best known for its spectacular spring display of large, double pink blossoms. Unlike fruiting cherry trees, Kwanzan cherries are grown primarily for their beauty rather than edible fruit. The tree has an upright, vase-shaped form and typically reaches 25–40 feet tall, making it a striking focal point in landscapes and home gardens.

To grow a Kwanzan cherry tree at home, choose a location with full sun to encourage abundant flowering. It prefers well-drained soil and does not tolerate soggy conditions. Water regularly during the first few years to establish strong roots, then provide supplemental water during extended dry periods. Prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape and remove dead or crossing branches. Applying mulch around the base helps conserve moisture and protect roots, while good air circulation reduces the risk of disease.
