Centranthus ruber

Centranthus ruber, commonly known as Red Valerian, is a popular perennial grown for its fragrant, ornamental and showy crimson-red blooms that grow in clusters. Loved for having one of the longest blooming seasons, you can expect flowers from spring until frost.

Grow in full sun to part shade with well-drained average to sandy soils. Once established, Red Valerian can be drought tolerant. Prune spent flowers to encourage new blooms and to discourage dandelion-like seed heads that will disburse into the garden. Butterflies love Red Valerian!

This is a great choice for those who are looking for that wildflower, cottage garden look. Add to embankments/slopes to help with erosion control, plant along stone walls and in the border as a specimen plant. Plays well in the garden with Salvia, Achillea, Euphorbia, Nepeta and Dianthus.

Arrives to you in a quart-sized container.
