Symphyotrichum oblongifolium 'October Skies'

'October Skies' is a compact mounding perennial that brings a late season pop of interest to any style garden. Considered an aromatic Aster because of the slightly sweet fragrance put off from the foliage. While the sky blue-lavender blooms are not remarkably fragrant to us, they are a magnet for late-season pollinators. Expect blooms August to October on this long blooming perennial.

Easy to care for, Asters prefer full sun and average watering.  We recommend more frequent and deeper watering during their first growing season until they become established. These beauties also benefit from early spring pruning. During the first growing season, pinch back new growth through mid-summer to encourage fuller growth.

Perfect for mass plantings, container gardens and in the perennial garden. Plant with Rudbeckia, Solidago, Echinacea, Amsonia and Hydrangeas as companions in the garden.

Native to the Central and Eastern United States.

Arrives to you in a quart-sized container. *Shown in a 1 gallon-sized pot in photo 4.*
