Hamamelis virginiana

Also known as common witch hazel, hamamelis virginiana is a late-fall blooming deciduous shrub native to the US Northeast. Best suited to wetter soil, Witch Hazel even tolerates heavy clay. Full sun to partial shade is best with more abundant flowering directly related to increased exposure.

In the spring and summer deep green foliage develops but the fragrant, yellow flowers hold off until late fall and continue well into December. A wonderful habitat for birds and smaller wildlife.

The multiple trunks of the Witch Hazel spread wider at the top creating a canopy effect. In garden use, plant at the back to frame smaller feature plantings.

Comes to you 2-3' tall in a 3 gallon pot

*Please note: Our native plants are field-grown and untreated with pesticides or fertilizers (how it should be!) Because of this, some varieties may show spots, browning or holes in the foliage during the fall months. Our plants have been organically treated if needed and are healthy and strong.
