Amelanchier canadensis

This native stunner is remarkably tolerant of both sun exposure and soil types. A rather small variety of Serviceberry allows for any size garden to enjoy the delicate white blooms that precede the deep green foliage which then fade to a peachy red color in the fall.

Butterflies and birds will flock to this tree in the early summer and late fall as the sweetly fragrant blooms evolve into green berries that turn deep purple when they are ripe. Serviceberries look somewhat like blueberries and the sweet edible fruit is often used in jams and preserves.

Often found in groups along the edges of bogs, the Canadian Serviceberry adapts to form thicket like growth that is more shrublike than tree and provides cover for local wildlife until mid-autumn. Maximum height can reach 25 feet.

Available in 3 gallon size.
