Unlike the incarnata variety, this milkweed prefers drier soil and is a more compact. The strong upright stems reach heights of 2 to 2 1/2 feet tall and are covered in deep green foliage that erupts in a profusion of sweet smelling orange florets in mid-summer that are a magnet for pollinators. A sun lover, this variety does beautifully naturalized in rock gardens, as a feature in a small yard or even well-draining patio containers.

After the blooms fade, the seed pods on this fiery orange beauty provide food for native wildlife and birds. An easy perennial to care for, this milkweed brings the butterflies to your yard!
