Acanthus x. 'Whitewater'

Commonly called bear's breeches, this is a clump-forming perennial which is grown as much for its attractive foliage as for its big bold flower spikes. Deeply-cut, glossy green, spiny, thistle-like leaves are the base for the tall pink and cream flower spikes that bloom from early to mid-summer. Blooms resemble snapdragons which bring a pop of color to shady spots and make attractive additions to cut-flower bouquets.

This plant prefers well-drained soil in full sun to partial sun. While it grows in a wide variety of soils it does not do well in wet soils. Slow growing, it can take some time to establish but once it takes hold, it spreads easily by seed and root cutting. May be divided or moved in spring.

A great option for planting in borders and for those wanting a cottage garden look.

Arrives to you in a gallon-sized container.
