Phlox subulata 'Emerald Blue'

'Emerald Blue' is a great addition to those wanting that wild meadow or cottage garden look. This creeping Phlox has blue-lavender flowers. Its needle-like, evergreen foliage forms a dense mat, making a lush groundcover perfect for cascading over walls or across slopes. This Phlox is good for any open sunny spot, especially a bank., but is also a great addition to any rock garden, foundation plantings, or as an edger.

Phlox 'Emerald Blue' blooms arrive mid to late spring. Phlox is a butterfly, bee, and hummingbird magnet!

This plant does best in full sun to partial shade. It prefers dry to average moisture levels with very well-drained soil, and will often die in standing water. It is considered to be drought-tolerant, and thus makes an ideal choice for a low-water garden or xeriscape application. It is not particular as to soil type but has a definite preference for alkaline soils. It is highly tolerant of urban pollution and will even thrive in inner-city environments. Consider covering it with a thick layer of mulch in winter.

Pairs well with Roses, Grasses, Dianthus, Coreopsis, Echinacea, Nepeta 'Walker's Low', and Astilbe.

TIP: Can be trimmed back after flowering to the low green foliage if lush new growth is needed. No need to prune in the fall, clean up winter damage in spring.

Arrives to you in a quart-sized container.
