crataegus phaenopyrum

A superb native tree selection with an abundance of interesting features and benefits. Its common names comes from the fact that it was discovered and planted in Washington DC in the 1700s.

Features: Produces attractive white flower clusters in spring, followed by bright red berry clusters in fall that remain through winter months. Leaves turn to attractive shades of red and orange in fall- allowing for year-round interest. General shape and form of this tree is attractive for landscape design. Requires little to no pruning.

Benefits: Spring flowers are a good food source for many native bees and pollinators. Red berries are an essential food source for native birds to feed on all winter long. Think of this tree as a natural bird feeder!

Arrives to you in a 2 gallon pot, about 2-3 feet tall.
