Rosa virginiana

One of the few truly native roses in our area, the Virginia Rose or Prairie Rose is highly valued for its beauty adaptability and benefits for native wildlife. The graceful arching stems are covered by hairlike appendages, stout curved thorns and deep green foliage. The deep pink blooms that appear in early June last well into August before turning to sweet edible rose hips that the birds adore!

This fast growing rose can reach heights of 6 feet and naturalizes easily via suckers. It is among the most adaptable roses and does well in full-sun with average soil. While they prefer moist soil, they are also fairly drought tolerant and  require little to no upkeep.

Use these as woodland borders, in rock gardens or as a feature in your perennial pollinator garden.

Comes to you 12"-18" tall in a 2 gallon pot

*Please note: Our native plants are field-grown and untreated with pesticides or fertilizers (how it should be!) Because of this, some varieties may show spots, browning or holes in the foliage during the fall months. Our plants have been organically treated if needed and are healthy and strong.
