Liriodendron tulipifera

Native to the Eastern US, Tulip Poplar is a vigorous grower that produces yellow, orange and green tulip-shaped flowers in the spring and distinctive aromatic foliage. One of the largest of the native trees, the Tuliptree or Yellow Poplar is prized for its rod-straight hardwood that reaches mature height near 90 feet tall. In the fall, the leaves fade to a pale yellow before they drop and leave behind seed pods that are beneficial for native birds and wildlife.

Tulip Poplar prefers moist, well-draining soil and full sun.
