Acer pensylvanicum 

Also known as Goosefoot Maple, it gets that name from the shape of the leaves looking like the foot of a goose. Young stems are green with vertical white striping, hence the Striped Maple name. As the tree matures, the striping may vanish as older bark turns a reddish-brown. Leaves turn a bright yellow in fall and you can expect small yellow flowers in spring (May). 

Plant in part shade with medium moisture, well-drained soil. An excellent choice for woodland gardens and shaded naturalized areas. Though misspelled, the genius name was an ode to Pennsylvania where the Striped Maple is native.
