Papaver orientale 'Forncett Summer'

Commonly called Oriental Poppy. Forncett Summer is a large-specimen variety reaching heights of 32" tall. Featuring large, 5" ruffled flowers. Flowers are deeply serrated, salmon color that fade to black in the centers. Blooms in Mary and June. Deadhead to promote repeat blooming. Ephemeral plant, dies back completely into the ground in summer after its flowering season.

Plant in full sun with moist, well-drained soil. Performs well if there is good drainage. These showy flowers are deer resistant and make nice cut flowers as well.

Excellent when used as single specimen plantings or small groupings. Because of their dwarf habit, they can be used towards the front of borders as well. Foliage turns yellow after blooming so we suggest planting near other plants that produce more late season leaves to help cover. Rudbeckia and Russian Sage make great companion plantings.
