Polemonium yezoense 'Purple Rain'

This different form of Jacob's ladder sports large clusters of star-shaped, purple flowers with lacy foliage on dark stems. The leaves have around 20-ish very small, long-blooming, leaflets that are supposed to represent the ladder of which Jacob dreamed of and the angels climbed.

The compact size makes 'Purple Rain' a great option for shady beds, edging, rock gardens, a woodland garden, and containers. Polemonium is great to attract pollinators and makes great cut flowers.

Prefers moist, humus-rich soil. Polemonium seldom needs to be divided and is slow to recover after being disturbed. Deadhead flowered stems so as to prevent self-seeding. Plants may be cut back to basal foliage after bloom to tidy the planting and to promote a potential rebloom in late summer.  Foliage will be greener in summer or if grown in shade.

Pairs well with: Polygonatum odoratum 'Variegatum' (Solomon's Seal), Asclepias, and Ferns.

Arrives to you in a quart-sized container as shown in photo four.
