Paeonia lactiflora 'Karl Rosenfield'

Peonies are a group of herbaceous perennials that are widely known for their massive blooms. Their flowers appear in May and last through early June. Most flowers are large- over 4" across and up to 12" across in some varieties. Flowers are usually double and frilly and bloom in shades of pink, red, orange and white.

Peonies have been bred and cultivated for hundreds of years. Because of this, they are extremely long-lived plants and can live and thrive for generations. There are peonies in existence that are over 100 years old. Peonies take a year or so to get established, and once they do, you can expect slight growth yearly with more prolific and larger blooms over time. They are a true garden investment.

Plant peonies in full sun in slightly alkaline, well draining soil. Do not divide or dig you peonies- once they are planted, they should remain whole in the same spot. Water heavily when planted.  Peonies need little maintenance and do not typically require fertilizer or amending soil.

'Karl Rosenfeld' is a standard and staple variety of peony that was introduced in 1908 and features huge, magenta-deep red blooms that bloom s mid-season in May and June. It's flowers can grow to over 8" across, making it one of the most desired cultivars available in the market today.
