Ceanothus americanus

New Jersey Tea is a sought-after, native flowering shrub that is naturally found in many parts of the northeast US. It's noted for its large, white pom-pom flowers that bloom from May to July. Flowers make a wonderful cut flower for vases and bouquets.  During revolutionary war times, New Jersey Tea leaves were used as a substitute for tea, however, they do not contain caffeine. The flowers are strong attractors for birds, hummingbirds and butterflies.

Plant New Jersey Tea in full sun to part shade in dry to average soil. Mature plant will reach 4 feet tall and 5 feet wide. New Jersey Tea is tolerant of some drought, rocky/clay soil, black walnut, and isn't popular with deer or rabbits.

Arrives to you in a gallon-sized pot.
