'Black Mission' is one of the most reliable backyard fig trees on the market. It produces purplish-black fruit in both summer and fall. Eat the fruits fresh, dried or preserve them in cans. 

Plant your fig tree in full sun to part shade, in a non-acidic soil. 'Black Mission' is self pollinating and does not need to be planted with other trees. Consider planting in a south-facing area for heat protection during cold months. This variety can be planted into a container, but if so, must be moved indoors or into a protective area over winter months to protect its roots.
