Cytisus scoparius 'Sister Disco'

Also known as Scotch Broom, this compact deciduous shrub adds a vibrant pop of color in the early spring. The gently arching stems create a rounded profile that hosts deep green foliage most of the year but early in the spring they explode with delicate bright yellow and red blooms that make a great backdrop for your early spring flowers like tulips and daffodils. In the fall, seed pods are left behind after the leaves drop adding winter interest and treats for native birds.

Once established, 'Sister Disco' is drought tolerant and prefers to stay on the drier side, so sandy or loamy well-draining soil is best. Use as a lovely addition to small gardens or containers or mass plant as a sidewalk border that loves full-sun! Pruning is not required, however, if you choose to keep this little beauty trimmed, prune shortly after blooms fade as 'Sister Disco' is an old wood bloomer.
