Gaillardia x grandiflora 'Mesa™ Red'

Mesa Red produces soft large blooms of rich red. These nonfading early summer blooms last through the hot summer sun. Loved for its low maintenance, this plant grows easily in non-clay soils.  Mesa Red is a very uniform, compact, well-branched plant with strong, upright habits. This herbaceous perennial is a first-year flowering variety with cold-hardy tolerance. 

Butterflies adore the blooms! In the landscape, plants have proven to be wind and rain-resistant which is especially valuable in climates where there are frequent thunderstorms in summer.

Make an excellent cut flower, thrives in rock gardens and border support. It can spread up to 20-22 inches wide and up to 16-18" tall. Leave all Gaillardia varieties standing over the winter and cut back to 1-2" about the soil mid-spring when plants begin to wake up.
