Halesia tetraptera

Carolina Silverbell or Silverbell tree is a small, deciduous, understory tree. White, bell-shaped flowers droop from stems and arrive in spring (April) either just before or as the leaves begin to emerge. Leaves turn yellow in fall, but may drop early. Four-winged fruits arrive in fall and turn a brownish as they persist into winter.

Plant in full sun to part shade with moist, organically rich soil. Can be grown as a multi-stemmed shrub or trained as a single stem tree. An interesting small tree for the lawn or woodland garden. Plant with azaleas and rhododendrons in the garden as companions.

Native to the Southeastern United States

Arrives to you in a 5 gallon-sized pot, approximately 4-6' tall.
