Rosa caroliniana

Also called Pasture Rose. Carolina Rose, is a native shrub which occurs in both dryish and wet soils throughout the northeastern US.  Typically found in glades, open woods, prairies, along roads and railroads, and in wet soils along streams and swamps and low areas. Mature Carolina Roses grow from 1-3' tall (less frequently to 6') and often spread by suckers to form colonies or thickets in the wild. Features single (5-petaled), pink flowers (to 2.5" across) which bloom in May. No repeat bloom. Smooth, dark green foliage. Red hips in late summer. Flowers are attractive to butterflies, and birds.

Plant Carolina Rose in full sun in medium to wet soil. Avoid areas that get too dry. To establish roots, water heavily upon planting in the mornings. Slightly prune in late winter or early Spring.

Arrives to you in a 2 gallon pot about 18" tall.
