Briza media

Known as Common Quaking Grass, this ornamental grass offers a clump of narrow, upright, green leaves. Small green flowers arrive in spring (May - June) and give way to hop-like seed heads. These purplish turning to tan pods dangle on their stems and blow in the breeze, giving them their common name. 

Plant in full sun to partial shade with well-drained soil. Deer resistant and black walnut tolerant, this grass is best used in naturalized areas, cottage gardens and meadows.
