Aster laevis 

Commonly known as the Smooth Aster, this hardy perennial offers purple-blue star-like flowers that bloom from late summer into fall (August - October). The pretty yellow centers of the blooms often turn a reddish color in fall. Branches are arching in form, but stay upright due to the hardy stems. 

Plant in full sun with dry to average watering needs. Tolerates clay and loamy soils well. A great source of nectar for pollinators in the fall and a host plant for the Pearl Crescent butterfly.
