Alcea rugosa

Part of the hollyhock family, this easy care perennial features tall stately flowers. The yellow blooms provide wonderful color that rise on the tall stalks. Expect abundant blooms throughout summer (July - August).

This variety reaches 4-9' tall and forms numerous stalks from the base instead of the familiar single stalk. Hollyhocks are mostly biennials or short-lived perennials, and will reseed themselves. They are also black walnut tolerant.

Plant in full sun with medium moisture, well-drained soil. Try growing them in the cottage garden style by planting them up against a wall or picket fence. Provides excellent architectural height and stature in border backgrounds. Companions in the garden include Roses, Delphinium, Foxglove, Butterfly bush and Peonies.

Arrives to you in a quart-sized container, as shown in photo 4.
